Home of the brave is to exist in the heart. A long time ago in my life, I learned that if I just shut up and acted as if nothing impressed me I would be much more likable. When that wasn't true - it only made me like everyone else my age. I felt like if I spoke up or acted like myself I would get laughed at or called stupid. To really show excitement or care for anything was to be vulnerable. So it took me a really long time in my life to understand that my voice has value. Being excited about something and finding joy in the smallest things is an act of truth and bravery. This painting is an illumination of that - rustic almost like going back into nature and simply allowing what already is to shine.
