24x36 Glitter, Gold Leaf, Resin, Acrylic, Museum Canvas
Have you ever just had one of those lives? Where it started early, bright and gigantic. “You have a gigantic aura” people have probably said. What does that mean? It means that you draw everything in. The good, the bad, the intense, the impossible, the love, the strength, the slow days but fast years. Compartments of time periods and places, people and daydreams. A ray of light seems delicate enough but it can cut through anything.
You grew up fast and strong - and learned what you needed to learn so that others could learn it too. Mostly love. To love regardless. To create spaces of comfort and understanding even though spaces like that weren’t given to you to learn first. You were a provider - direct and consistent just like the sun. But there were times when like the last slow sun rays slipping from ending daylight you wanted to run wild, be free. Like a musician that writes a song that the world falls in love with you could never be contained or made to be less than your true nature -
The power of the sun. The whole sun. Who gives life to everything and has never asked for anything in return. The sun who never speaks of its power. The sun who never changes, but never stays the same. The sun who connects everyone and everything, and shows love how to see with the clarity that she sees. We come back over and over again, into this game of life - in order to over and over again learn what we need to learn the way that we need to learn it.
It is a never-ending cosmic conversation - one that shines and glitters like a familiar memory of a path that leads to somewhere we have always been. A place beyond space and time. This painting is a portrait of your light and frequency as I experience it. I feel a little shy telling you how beautiful you are and the impact you have had on so many because you are just not the sort to talk about yourself.
But, she is a portrait of the energy and illumination that your spirit brings to everything and everyone that you know and love. It is because of how loved you are by your family that I chose to put the amount of different colors in it that I did. I know the canvas is busy - chaotic in moments - but - that’s life in its purest, most simple form. It doesn’t always match and there is always another direction to see.
Please know that this work has been intentionally created with gratitude and good intentions for your comfort, your heart, and all of the lessons about love, structure, care, and belonging that you have worked so hard to teach so many within this life and beyond. There are so many times this time around that you have been the gold thread that ties all of the glitter together.
I hope that you can feel the ways that you have been the rainbow within a ray of light to the ones that love you when you are quietly in the presence of this art. All that you are, and all that you have given, is why she is as dynamic and as layered as she is. Thank you for inspiring this work and for having the power of transformation and giving to others things that you have mastered. It has been an honor and a privilege to learn about the way that your experiences have impacted so many at such deep levels. I am a better person for making this painting. I am a better person because of you. In the light, of the light, as the light.
