There is great movement and change in the stillness of this canvas. The work is messy, and sparkly, and in an orderly way, way out of order. I hope you can see the great mystery of time and wonder of a single second. Sometimes during my hardest days. When I felt the most inadequate, or tired, or small. I would catch glimmers of something else and it would draw me out of that. Once, you both were that glimmer.
I think I was washing a table and I looked up to see you both walking out of the building, hand in hand. I remember vividly seeing so clearly how relieved you both looked to be leaving together after a very long night. In just a flash of an instant I felt the comfort that just being around each other brought to each of you. I remember thinking that I felt so lucky to know that comfort and structure too.
A confession dial in Dr. Who is the last testament of a dying time lord. Time Lords are so named for their command of time travel technology and their non-linear perception of time.
It is within you both that I feel a sparkling light, a timelessness that you share together. The building I would see you guys in had a dim sparkle to it always, supported by pops of gold, chrome, mirror and muted blue-greens. It’s never the colors and the light that make the space special. It’s the people and their talent, frequency and ability to create. It’s how the light radiates off of them that becomes what I remember.
As soon as you enquired to me about a painting I began brainstorming ways to add sequins to it because of the way the light would bounce off of you both. Summer would meet you there after you had a long day, you’d sit together a while before leaving. Both of you look like old Hollywood movie stars to me. Sequins were the only appropriate and very special medium. Also, I know that Marco’s Grandma Rosie was his hero. That is why only rose gold would work.
There are two very distinct check marks within the canvas in the rose gold sequins. This brings a structure to the meaning - the symbolism of the structure of the comfort that loves and being loved brings. I also feel that Rosie was very smart, ordered, and checks in still constantly. Double checks.
It is my hope that all of our living and final testaments will be inclusive of love. Love, like the doctor, transcends all space and time. Love is also non-linear. When I look at this canvas I see the two of you, Summer Valentine and Marco, walking out of the pops of gold, chrome, mirror and muted blue-greens. Walking into the outside hand in hand. The sense of comfort and structure of your presence with each other, as well as all of the people and places you have loved together - it gave me comfort too.
My paintings are tiny little moments that I attempt to magnify and capture. It is my goal to put into a visual format what the frequency would look like if we had a different set of seeing skills. A set of seeing skills that would show what it felt like to feel what the people around us are feeling as they interact with each other.
This one is the both of yours, and a testament I hope you carry and give to each other that will transcend all space and time. A testament of love, and comfort, the way you shine and sparkle. The way that each others witnesses and that you did life here, together, on this crazy planet during this even crazier time.
Thank you for such a clear sight of timeless, radiating love and comfort. I hope you see the joy of each other, what you create together, and how it impacts the people around you for decades to come.
